Croft and Bourque Claim International Victories at Eventing at The Parks

Sarah Croft Tops CCI2-S While Bianca Bourque Wins CCI1 in FEI Debut

OTTAWA, ON, September 28, 2026 — Sarah Croft (CAN) and Catarpa B claimed the CCI2*-S victory this weekend as international eventing returned to Wesley Clover Parks for the second annual Eventing at The Parks CCI2*-S CCI1*, held alongside the Eastern Canadian Eventing Championships.

Athletes competed for $7,500 in FEI prize money sponsored by Foshay International, including $5,000 in the CCI2*-S and $2,500 in the CCI1*.

Croft, of King City, ON, and Catarpa B returned to Wesley Clover Parks after competing in the inaugural Eventing at The Parks in 2025 and delivered a strong performance across all three phases of dressage, show jumping and cross-country to secure the CCI2*-S victory.

The pair began the competition with a dressage score of 31.8, placing them fifth heading into show jumping, where they produced the only clear round to move into second place.

On cross-country, Croft and Catarpa B jumped clear over the course designed by FEI Level 3 course designer Jay Hambly, adding only 5.6 time penalties to finish on 37.4 and take top spot.

Canadian Olympian Selena O’Hanlon (CAN), of Kingston, ON, and Kilbunny Kanyou finished just 0.1 penalties behind on a final score of 37.5. Sitting third following dressage on 29.5, the pair added two rails in show jumping before delivering a fault-free cross-country round with no jumping or time penalties to climb back up the leaderboard and secure second place.

Three-time Canadian Olympian and five-time Pan American Games medallist Jessica Phoenix (CAN), of Uxbridge, ON, completed the podium aboard Romantic Comedy on a final score of 41.4. The pair came into the weekend following a CCI2*-S victory earlier in September at the Glen Oro Autumn Horse Trials & CCI.

In the CCI1*, Bianca Bourque (CAN), of Gatineau, QC, made her FEI debut a winning one aboard Sunset Rose.

Bourque and the 2011 mare took the early lead with a dressage score of 26.2 and ultimately finished on 36.2 after one rail in show jumping and a clear cross-country round with 6.0 time penalties.

Lindsay Beer-Drury (CAN), of Springwater, ON, and RREF Veronica moved into the lead following a clear show jumping round but ultimately finished second on a final score of 50.9. Nika Maksymenko (UKR), of Richmond Hill, ON, also made her FEI debut this weekend, finishing third aboard Alcanto with a score of 53.3.

Running alongside the international divisions, the Eastern Canadian Eventing Championships welcomed qualifying athletes from Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland & Labrador, bringing competitors together for a season-ending championship at Wesley Clover Parks.

The weekend also included the presentation of the Laframboise Family Legacy Awards, which recognize excellence and lifetime contributions to Canadian eventing. Emmi Larocque and Belle of the Ball received the Overall High Point Young Rider Award, while Elisabeth Campeau and Voila Voltaire earned the Overall High Point Youth U18 Award.

The Outstanding Adult Lifetime Contribution to Eventing in Canada Award was presented jointly to Peggy Hambly and Ian Roberts, recognizing their longstanding commitment to the sport and its athletes in Canada.

Peggy Hambly has contributed to Canadian eventing in numerous leadership and officiating roles, including as a longtime national committee member, past President of Equestrian Canada and a Technical Delegate. Roberts is a former Canadian Olympic and World Championship team athlete who, alongside his wife, Canadian Olympian Kelly Plitz, operates Dreamcrest Farm. Throughout his career, he has produced upper-level horses, coached generations of riders and developed an accomplished career in cross-country course design.

FEI Level 3 course designer Jay Hambly returned to Wesley Clover Parks to design the international cross-country tracks, while FEI Level 2 course designer and Laframboise Family Legacy Award recipient Ian Roberts designed the national courses. Their work contributed to a weekend of competition designed not only to challenge athletes across a range of levels, but also to support the continued development of eventing competition in Canada.

Now in its second year, Eventing at The Parks reflects an ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for athletes, officials and the broader eventing community to develop and compete at home.

The return of international eventing once again makes Wesley Clover Parks the only venue in Canada to host international competition across all three Olympic equestrian disciplines: jumping, dressage and eventing.
